Breathtaking views of the Andes in the realm of the condor
Trip Length: 4 to 5 hours, Available all year
Difficulty: Intermediate to Strenuous
This trek initially follows the route of the ‘Meseta Trek’ then proceeds to climb an additional 500 meters higher into the spectacular Cordillera! After leaving the meseta, the trail climbs steeply upwards to “La Campana” – an 1800 meter, bell shaped mountain that dominates the landscape surrounding the sanctuary.
The views are breathtaking as we enter into the realm of the condor. The trail gives us many opportunities to enjoy miles of unobstructed views of the Maipo River and the surrounding mountains. After resting a bit atop La Campana, we continue on to ‘Cruce de los Maquis‘ – a stream crossing in a small native forest, that has a seasonal pool perfectly located for a well deserved refreshing dip. After a break, we head back down the mountain to the Meseta and then follow a different trail down to the Rio Maipo, ending up back at our starting point.
Afterwards, you can relax and enjoy a beverage or meal, or head over to cool off in the swimming pool or take a sauna or hot tub.
Box lunches are available for purchase that you may pack along on this trek.
